WhoooooHOOOOO! Well yesterday was a good day at Brooklyn Bike Y Board. One of our sweetest rides, a 53 Surly Steamroller, found a perfect home. Monique is the proud new owner, and FastYfierce we hope 2. Part of what we talked about with her buying a 1 speed bicycle was the goal of keeping the FastYfierce Squad at a simple consistent pace for the purpose of getting together and not ramping the pace real high and losing people.
. Speaking of which, and Lord knows I do lots of speaking, a plan is emerging for FastYfierce group rides. Sunday Morning, when warm enough we'll meet in the park and those who are so inclined will get down on some Yoga y stretching. Then we'll cruise and chat. For the interim we might need to stretch on our own, OrNoT! Cruizn' and Chatn' is actually the technical term for base miles when a biker is training at a rate low enough that they can carry on a conversation. Plenty of that sort of riding is needed to build a foundation, upon which you can proceed faster and radder!
Then we've also been talking about the premise for the FastYfierce Squad. Basically I'm looking to instigate maD communication on the bike, among the group and with others on the road. As well as front and rear FastYfierce Squad patrol; that is, no one gets dropped accidentaly because there is a sweeper on all group rides who is in communication with the leader via 2-way, and they are ensuring that the back of the ride stays together. This is of course less of an issue when one rides by themselves and needs only to check their rear view on occasion. A tight group of bikers can rotate through with those on the front exchanging places with those on the rear continuously while maintaining tight form and chatting away. To do so we gotS to Practice!
So given that not a lot of sleep is going into the formation of FF y BByB y STMPrllzBRklyn, we shall determine which sunday will be inaugural ride sunday. It most likely will be after our 12 week Open! party at the bike shop on March 12... Soooo Yeaah, thanks MOnique, hope you love your bike, peas out, m
